From the Principal

Hello dear families and welcome to Term 4!

Student Convention went well at the end of last term, with many Seabrook students again rejoicing and praising God for the gifts and blessings He has bestowed upon them. Our prayer is that the students don’t just leave these experiences at Convention, but continue to use their many God-given gifts and talents to glorify God and extend His Kingdom. I trust that we are all back fresh from holidays, and ready to do our best to overcome whatever challenges God places before us in this last term of 2017.

As part of the change from Seabrook Christian School to Australian Christian College, there have been renovations happening at all 3 of our campuses over the holiday break. At Hobart, the renovations in one classroom are basically complete, with just a few minor equipment fittings still to go. At Launceston and Somerset, we are just waiting on the new furniture to arrive, which will be a few weeks away.

As the changes in the school continue to occur, I encourage all of us to remember that the anchor of our lives cannot be in the material things around us, our homes, our clothes, our schools, our jobs, or our possessions. As the people of God, our anchor is the hope we have in our LORD, Christ Jesus. Our LORD is the same yesterday, today and forever. His mercies are new EVERY morning. He makes a way for us in the wilderness and makes streams for us in the wasteland.

"“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure…”"
Hebrews 6:19

With the change in format to the newsletter, we ask that families who haven’t already provided the school with an email address please do so. It is our intention to move to a completely digital format starting in 2018.

Blessings to you all in His Name,

Jared Khu

The 2017 Junior and Senior Conventions were held in the last week of term 3.

Some pleasing results were achieved by all of our students, in particular, in the Junior Convention where the following students received Category and Overall Awards:

  • Anna Bosveld—Academic Runner-up Girl, Music/Platform Runner-up Girl
  • Grieta Bosveld—Music/Platform Runner-up Girl, Overall Upper Junior Runner-up Girl
  • Daniel Christian—Academic Champion Boy
  • Jed Clark—Art/Craft Runner-up Boy

This was our first convention as grade 7 students. It was a great experience and unlike anything or any other camps we’ve been to…a bit like school and camp rolled into one. We were put out of our comfort zones by being on stage, performing in front of audiences, being in competitions and meeting new people.

"Convention was frightening, funny, challenging, awkward, exciting and the teachers and food were GOOD... very good." Bradley, Brodie & Daniel

"I liked jumping on the trampoline." Dyson

"At Convention this year, we had a really great time. The food was great and it was amazing to see all of the wonderful artwork and other things that were there! Well done to everyone who put in a really big effort! I hope you had a really great time just like I did." Belinda

"I loved the art and the songs and singing. Some of us were happy. I liked the fun things." Destini

"Convention this year was really fun and exciting. We got to meet new people and schools and we got to try lots of new things. It was amazing seeing people’s talents and sports skills. I liked looking at the art sections and seeing what people got. It was raining on the first day, but the food was great. The second day was sport’s day. It was bright and sunny, but at the end of the day we were all sweaty and hot. I really enjoyed it." Leah

Well done to everyone who participated in Convention!

Scripture Verse

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 5:10-12
